More than 900 chickens from a Fresno, Calif., farm were brutally beaten to death with a golf club in September, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times.

Police think that at least one person broke into Foster Farms after bending back a fence. The farm promised a $5,000 reward for information pertaining to the slaughter of 920 chickens.

“Whoever did something like this is pretty sick,” Deputy Chris Curtis said in an interview with the LA Times. “It would take a long time to do it…People should be alarmed at something like that.”

In a statement, Foster Farms said it is their “express policy to treat its birds humanely and with compassion.”
