Job: Caddies at Bandon (Ore.) Dunes

\nSASHA DUNCAN:
\nThere's more to caddying than 'show up, keep up, shut up,' especially at Bandon Dunes, with the brisk winds, the tight links lies. Golf tests your mind, your mood, like no other sport. You're part caddie, part psychologist. Maybe you give your player space or crack a joke. A caddie's job is to take the if out of golf. This one guy was overthinking a shot. 'What if I hit nine-iron? What if I hit wedge?' On and on. I finally said, 'That's stupid!' He snapped out of it and thanked me. Yeah, female caddies are rare here, so players grill me more, to see if I can do the job. I mess with them. I say, 'I only have 18 good reads in me today.'
