What would Bubba Watson and comedian/TV hostess Ellen DeGeneres possibly have in common? Well, they're going to be on Ellen's show together. So they've got that.
Watson will, indeed, get to be a guest on Ellen's show on Tuesday after effectively stalking her during the week of the Bob Hope Classic, which Watson nearly won. (He tied for second, one shot behind Bill Haas.) Brian Wacker reports on that Bubba has been booked on the show.
Just like "The Price Is Right," where contestants are picked out of line for acting up and being overly enthused, Watson proves you can game your way onto TV. He did a series of stunts and social-networking posts in an effort to cajole Ellen into an invite, including singing "Happy Birthday" in one video and jumping into a pool with his clothes on.
Watson, who will appear before next week's Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club, told "I'm very excited. It was just something fun to do to try to get on her show."
Watson on Ellen: "She's just hilarious. Before she had her show, she was a stand-up comedian and I remember she was funny way back when."
Realization: You don't have anything in common with Bubba Watson, either.
