When it comes to Tiger Woods, Las Vegas casinos don't like to take
chances. Even though he'll be facing 155 other golfers at the U.S. Open
this weekend, a bet on Woods will pay off just 3 to 1, and Las Vegas
gaming expert Chuck Esposito expects to see even shorter odds by
Thursday.
"I suspect he'll go off at 6 to 5 or 7 to 5," Esposito said. "There's just too much value at 3 to 1."
Here are the other contenders and their odds to win, according to Esposito.
Phil Mickelson: 8-1
Angel Cabrera: 12-1
Padraig Harrington: 15-1
Geoff Ogilvy: 15-1
Jim Furyk: 15-1
Paul Casey: 25-1
Retief Goosen: 25-1
Sergio Garcia: 25-1
Ernie Els: 35-1
The Field: 10-1
