By ART STRICKLIN Chad Campbell, who hurt his left calf at Colonial two weeks ago, will be ready to play in the U.S. Open, according to his agent, Dennis Harrington.
Harrington said Monday that Campbell strained his left calf but will be ready to go at Bethpage Black after two weeks of rest. "He's had to sit out this week [Memphis], but he will be ready for next week," Harrington said. "He's looking forward to it."
Campbell, who lost a playoff at the Masters this year, hurt his calf while playing out of a bunker at Colonial's 17th hole. At first he said he heard a pop and feared he had torn the muscle. Some Dallas media reports had Campbell out for six weeks to six months, but Harrington said during sectional U.S. Open qualifying Monday that his player would be at Bethpage early next week for the season's second major.
