EA Sports adds major championship courses to new Tiger Woods video game
In a few weeks I'm going to play 54 holes on three golf courses that are slated to host major championships this season. Care to join me?The newest version of the EA Sports Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise will be released June 8. The 2010 edition includes several new courses, including the sites of this season's U.S. Open (Bethpage Black), British Open (Turnberry) and PGA Championship (Hazeltine). Pinehurst No. 2, one of my personal favorites and the site of the 1999 and 2005 U.S. Opens, has also been added.
I can promise you that on the day I get my copy, the Wii here in the GOLF.com offices will be working overtime. As you can see in the videos below (from the Xbox version of the game), the graphics once again appear to be mind-blowing. The tiniest details—like mounds beside the greens and strategically placed trees—have all been digitally recreated to provide you with an experience that is almost as tough as playing the real thing. You can pre-order the game now on the EA Sports Web site in most of the popular gaming formats: Xbox ($60), PS3 ($60), Wii ($50), PSP ($40) and PlayStation 2 ($30).
