I've got the solution to make the Ryder Cup more competitive. Not that I'm overreacting to the Americans' getting clobbered the last two times or failing to win eight of the last 11 Ryder Cups.
Europe has dominated ever since the Great Britain & Ireland team was expanded to include all of Europe. Fair is fair. The American team should expand too, absorbing all of North America. That would mean Canada and Mexico and, while we're at it, we'll also take Greenland and Iceland.
North America versus Europe. That sounds impressive. Here's how this restores the competitive balance. The North American team gets Mike Weir and Stephen Ames of Canada and, of course, Lorena Ochoa of Mexico.
And if that doesn't work, we can talk about annexing South America (and Angel Cabrera and Andres Romero).
