With Tiger Woods on the sideline, plenty of names were tossed around Royal Birkdale as possible contenders for the Claret Jug. And since Woods will not be competing this week at Oakland Hills, the Wanamaker Trophy, awarded to the winner of the PGA Championship, also looks to be up for grabs. Ladbrokes, the online bookmaker, still seems to love Lefty. As of Monday evening, Phil Mickelson was the favorite at 10/1, followed closely by Padraig Harrington at 16/1.
Although Jim Furyk is currently ranked 13th in the World Golf Rankings, the Brits love his straight hitting and toughness; he's 20/1 to win his second major title. Sergio Garcia and last week's winner, Vijay Singh, who is now ranked fourth in the world rankings, are also at 20/1, with Anthony Kim, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and Lee Westwood getting 25/1.
And in case you were wondering, John Daly is getting 500/1.
