Mother's Day forecast optimistic

Sunday May 11th, 2008

So far, so good in Ponte Vedra Beach. It's overcast and breezy once again, probably making for yet another tough scoring day at the Players.
A look at the weather radar shows a line of nasty storms rolling through well to the north, in Georgia and South Carolina. The official Players forecast says a slight chance of thunderstorms and rain this morning, increasing to a chance of thunderstorms and rain this afternoon. Tour officials yesterday moved tee times up about 20 minutes for today's final round, but that was more based on the pace of play (ugh--don't even ask) than for weather concerns. They were hopeful that today's bad weather was going to miss the tournament to the north and the golf should finish on time today and not have another Monday finish like the Players often did when it was held in blustery late March.
The outlook is optimistic but hey, it's weather. No guarantees. Enjoy your Mother's day.
