Faldo Six-time major winner Nick Faldo announced that he will launch his Champions Tour career at the SAS Championship, held at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, North Carolina from October 7-13.
"This is the first time I've entertained thoughts of committing myself and playing again," said Faldo, according to a press release on the tournament website. "I look forward to the preparation and testing my competitive skills again ... I'm happy it all worked out this way and that the SAS Championship will be my Champions Tour debut."
There's not much the 56-year old Faldo hasn't already accomplished in the sport. He won three Masters Championships ('89, '90, '96) and three Open Championships ('87, '90, '92) and spent 97 weeks as the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world; he was elected in the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1997; and for his efforts, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2009.
Who knows, maybe someday he'll add a Jack Nicklaus Trophy (for Champions Tour Player of the Year) to his resume. (Photo: Thomas Lovelock / Sports Illustrated)
