Anyone who thinks Rory McIlroy has been off his form recently is just watching the wrong game. Or, more accurately, watching him play the wrong game.
McIlroy brought a little "footie" to the range Monday, to participate in the EA Sports "Crossbar Challenge." What is this "Crossbar Challenge," you ask? Fair question. According to Sean Nolan at Joe.ie (an Irish website for "Man Stuff"), it involves hitting a golf ball off the top of a soccer goal from 150 yards away. Let's watch: And there it is. Some people have questioned McIlroy's practice habits, but this ought to put that to rest. If you can hit an elevated, horizontal bar with a punch mid-iron, then putting should be gravy, right? Tiger and Fed share some #GOAT love Apparently, in the laconic parlance of Twitter, it's good to be the GOAT ("greatest of all time," that is). That's what Tiger Woods called Roger Federer after his Wimbledon win -- the seventh of Fed's career. As Ray Thomas of the Daily Telegraph reports:
Comparisons to Pele, Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Jack Nicklaus, Valentino Rossi - not to mention Rod Laver in his own sport - were encouraged by a tweet by Woods after the win.In other Tiger news... according to Otago Daily Times. Says Tracy Roxburgh:
"Hats off to Murray for a great match but we saw why Fed is the #GOAT (greatest of all time)," Woods wrote.
Federer said Woods had personally contacted him almost immediately after the match.
"He was very pumped up these past couple days for me - he was very supportive," Federer, the oldest man to win Wimbledon since 31-year-old Arthur Ashe in 1975, said. "It's nice when other great athletes like this do believe in me."
