You didn't notice for two reasons. One, even though the Nationwide Tour has a very high level of play, you don't care. Two, the tour opened its season in New Zealand, an expensive road trip on a tour where the 60th-biggest money-winner last year didn't clear $100,000.
Here's your update from the Australian PGA's website: American Robert Gates, 24, birdied the last three holes in the opening round and had six more birdies Friday to finish at 12 under par, one stroke ahead of Australia's Andrew Dodt and two ahead of fellow American D.J. Brigman.
