Stay away rain, and give me back my U.S. Open!
Raindrops are falling at Bethpage, and lightning may be coming, too. The green and yellow blob on the radar image is slowly but surely is blotting out this tournament. I remember when GOLF.com was the most important website during Open week. Now everyone sits glumly in front of weather.com, trying to predict exactly when this tournament will be interrupted again. Who's on the leaderboard? Who cares. The weather is the only thing that matters now. Anyway, it's Saturday afternoon and I'm still not sure what round we're playing.
As my eyes glaze over in front of the latest radar update, I'm hopeful that the second round—I think that's what they're out there playing—will finish this afternoon, but the dream of starting the third round may be dying. It's time to leave weather.com and head to Fandango. Maybe I can follow Phil's lead and catch a matinee of The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3.
