Deals available on tickets for 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage Black
From late winter to early spring to today, two days before the first round of the 2009 United States Open at Bethpage Black, the price for tickets has steadily dipped.
In a sagging economy, more and more fans seem to be staying away from expensive events, no matter what the storyline (Tiger, Phil, Angel, oh my!), and are instead opting to stay home and watch TV.
According to FanSnap.com, which tracks such data, the average ticket price for the Open has fallen from about $200 in early March to less than $100. (FanSnap is a search engine that partners with more than 50 ticket providers, showing all of their available tickets on one site.) A quick search Tuesday showed tickets starting at $70 for Thursday, $75 for Friday, $100 for Saturday and $88 for Sunday. For just $15, you can go to Wednesday's practice round, and $314 will buy you a pass to all four rounds. Below is a graph from FanSnap showing ticket prices and availability for the U.S. Open.
