How windy is it at Pebble Beach this morning? The media food tent, long a symbol of stability, heartiness and a sanctuary for hungry scribes everywhere, has fallen. With winds gusting up to 40 mph, tournament officials have broken down the tent, taking apart its white canvas sides and metal poles. The officials then moved several trays with free food (coffee, tea, orange juice, muffins, diet coke and caffeine-free diet coke) inside a room at the nearby the Lodge. The scribes were happy.
Rain continues to fall and the wind hasn't stopped. Officials just pushed back the start of play to 1:45 p.m. The chances that the players will finish today are almost nil. The weather forecast tomorrow doesn't look much better. Dustin Johnson, with a four-shot lead, must be feeling good.
