Wolstenholme_250** UPDATE: Sean O'Hair withdrew because of a pulled chest muscle, which means Wolstenholme will take his spot. That means Scott's potential replacement is now Andrew Svoboda. ** Adam Scott is on the course this morning testing out hisĀ  right pinky finger, which he broke in a car door three weeks ago. By all appearances, he intends to play, but his injury raises an interesting scenario.
If he were to withdraw, the first alternate would walk into the middle of the Open's premier pairing Thursday and Friday with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
The lucky alternate would be Gary Wolstenholme, right, a 47-year-old English amateur who's best known for knocking off Woods in the Walker Cup a few eons ago. He's not a long hitter. In fact, Woods and Mickelson would be hitting it miles and miles past him if he gets the call to fill in.
Wolstenholme, a former British Amateur champion, figured first alternate was a good enough bet that he bought a plane ticket and flew here. He is staying in a hotel and waiting for his chance.
The countdown is on to see if he gets into the Tiger-Phil tornado on Thursday.
