Mickelson_200
Writers love to write about omens. Here's a good one. Phil Mickelson was walking off the first tee in Sunday's final round of the Players and the strong, gusty winds blew his sponsor-logo visor off. It ended up in a pond next to the fairway and was last season floating with the leaves.
So in case you're wondering why Phil isn't wearing his usual visor today, that's why. It got blown away. Much like Phil's hopes in the final round. He messed up the first hole and ended up with a three-and-a-half foot putt for bogey. The ball went halfway down into the cup but spun around the lip, incredibly, and came back out. The double bogey dropped Phil from five to seven shots behind leader Paul Goydos.
Luckily, Phil had a cap stashed in his bag, which caddie Jim (Bones) Mackay produced. Phil continued play wearing the hat.
