Update, 9:30 a.m.Augusta National will be cool and gusty for the leaders today, with winds that could exceed 20 miles per hour by the afternoon and gusts as high as 30 mph. Winds that strong will create dramatic shots on holes like the par-3 12th, where the wind is notoriously hard to gauge.
Adam Scott, even par and 11 strokes behind leader Trevor Immelman, said the course will bare its teeth in conditions like that.
"If the weather is the way it is, even par could go a long way [Sunday]," Scott said.
But for all the pros' talk about the weather, you'd think the forecast included hurricane-wind advisories and sub-freezing temperatures. Yes, it will be cooler, but the Weather Channel is predicting sunshine and highs in the mid-60s. Very comfortable for the patrons, if not the players.
