It’s easy to call Seth Raynor history’s most underrated architect. Few people have heard of him, and he designed or co-designed more Top 100 U.S. courses -- nine -- than any other architect except A.W. Tillinghast and Donald Ross. A colleague and protégé of pioneer American architect Charles Blair Macdonald, Raynor designed Waialae, site of last week’s Sony Open in Hawaii and a fistful of other greats, 90 to 100 years ago.
