Worst Major Championship Venues

Not all majors are created equal, and neither are the venues chosen to host them. Few will argue about Augusta National being a superb venue each April for The Masters, but there have been others that do not earn similar respect for the three other coveted major titles -- Travelin' Joe Passov.

Hazeltine National Golf Club -- Chaska, Minn.
With 13 doglegs and multiple blind shots, Hazeltine irked nearly everyone at the 1970 U.S. Open. Dave Hill was the layout’s most vocal critic, famously describing it as, “Eighty acres of corn and a few cows. They ruined a good farm when they built this course.” Rees Jones has engineered a remarkable turnaround, making the redesigned Hazeltine a regular major site, as well as one of Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in the U.S.
