A few weeks before the Ryder Cup was played in 2006 at The K Club in Ireland, Sergio Garcia said, "Fortunately for us, [Woods] doesn't have a great Ryder Cup record, so I'm looking forward to hopefully going out there and meeting him two or three times."

Woods responded by saying, "As far as the Sergio comments, hopefully we can get together out there and play."

Paired with Luke Donald, Garcia earned a 2-up win in the Friday foursomes matches against Woods and Jim Furyk. In tournament play, however, Garcia has played with Woods three times in the final group on Sunday and never beaten him.
