In 1999, Payne Stewart won his second U.S. Open with a par-saving putt on No. 18 at Pinehurst No. 2. Four months later, Stewart died in a plane crash along with five other people. He was 42 years old. Stewart's pose after his win is immortalized at Pinehurst.
