O-Factor Drills
Groove your O-Factor for extra speed
Use these drills to develop an O-Positive downswing and send your swing speed off the charts
The fastest cars are the ones with the biggest engines. The same is true of golf swings, so if you want your club to travel at high speeds, you have to put your biggest muscles, your glutes, to work. That's exactly what happens when you rotate your left hip up and to the left on your downswing.
The move is so powerful that it literally pulls your shoulders and arms along for the ride. And since your hips move first, everything else must accelerate in order to catch up at impact. Using the big muscles is what allows golfers like Fred Couples to hammer the ball without swinging hard. Perform these drills to gas up your swing.
Drill 1: Spray some water Fill a bottle with some water and hold it in your left hand with the spout pointing up. Now take the bottle back in a mock backswing, and when you reach the top, turn your left hip up and around. Your upper body will respond to the turn and, if you do it right, fling the water out of the bottle and toward the target.
