Nike's square-headed SQ Dymo² (the "Dymo" stands for "dynamic MOI") is a well-conceived machine. For starters, the rear "PowerBow" gets thicker as loft increases from 8.5° to a high-lofted (HL) 14.5°. This shifts more mass farther back and to the heel side for added draw bias. Higher lofts also have a shallower face height, a more closed face angle and a more upright lie angle to help you square the clubface at impact. The real cachet, though, comes from Nike's innovative "Str8-Fit" adjustable fitting system, which features a specially designed shaft adapter and hosel system. Herein lies the secret: The shaft adapter and hosel tilt 2° off axis, which leads to eight possible clubface and lie angles. Nike testing shows that the eight settings (see below) produce up to 45 yards of directional difference. (Last year's Masters champ Trevor Immelman has been using Str8-Fit technology since March 2008. His driver is 1° open with a standard lie angle.) This system is user-friendly, too. It provides visual and audible feedback when the clubhead is secured to the shaft— an arrow on the grip points left or right to indicate a closed or open face. Lastly, the grip feels and plays the same regardless of head position.
