After holding the lead after each of the first three rounds, Garcia appeared to be on the brink of winning his first major. But after missing a 6-foot par putt on the 72nd hole, Garcia found himself in a 4-hole playoff with Ryder Cup teammate Padraig Harrington. The Irishman won by a stroke and once again Garcia was denied a major title.
