Even for a guy as cut as Camilo, posing naked can be nerve-racking, as he learned when he was included in ESPN The Magazine's Body Issue in October 2010. "It was uncomfortable," Villegas told The New York Times. "Getting naked in front of a camera is not what I do for a living. In those moments when it was really awkward, I kept thinking I've worked really hard to accomplish these results, and that helped me to relax."

In her book "Swinging From My Heels," Christina Kim said the golf course where this photo was taken wasn't as private as she had hoped: Two days before the Canadian Women's Open began I was part of a racy photo shoot for ESPN The Magazine's Body Issue. The shoot took place at a local golf course [in Calgary] that was being renovated and was thus deserted. Unfortunately no one seemed to realize until too late that the setting was flanked by a fairly busy road and the course's trees and shrubs did not entirely block the view of the three of us. So Sandra [Gal], Anna [Grzebien] and I had to step into our robes every time a car or jogger or biker passed by. When the coast was clear we'd drop trou and get back in place for a flurry of photos.

Laura Baugh was one of the LPGA's most popular players from 1973-1981. She never won a tournament, but "Lovely Laura" was one of the highest earners on the women's tour through her product endorsements, including Ultra Brite toothpaste. She also marketed herself by posing for numerous calendars throughout her career.

Henrik Stenson won the 2009 Players Championship, but he's probably most known for the shot he hit wearing only his briefs at Doral a few months earlier. Stenson's ball had landed in the mud near a water hazard, so he stripped to avoid having to finish his round in muddy clothes. "I was only wearing two things when I hit the shot, my jocks and my golf glove," Stenson told reporters afterward. "You never know, I might have a new endorsement with Playgirl or something like that."

What exactly is Kite wearing in this 1981 workout photo? Golf Magazine style editor Woody Hochswender has no idea. "A plaid diaper? A checked tablecloth remnant? Some new form of shorts with handkerchief points? Needless to say, the look, whether for gym or golf course, never caught on."

The Wilhelmina 7, the group of seven attractive LPGA players selected by Wilhelmina Artist Management to help market the game, appears to have fizzled, but the failed experiment left behind some great photos like this one of Kim Hall and Anna Grzebien.

What were these guys thinking in this 1983 photo? Here's Greg Norman's explanation to Golf Magazine in 2009. "We were trying to project the image of the PGA Tour in a different light. So [the Tour] picked guys who had some personality, who people liked on the golf course... Back then, the Tour promoted itself well. It was tastefully done."

Australian Jan Stephenson, who won three majors and 16 LPGA events, turned heads with this photo for Maxfli's 1986 calendar. Stephenson told Golf Magazine in 2003 that she was actually wearing something else under those balls. How often are you asked to sign that poster? All the time, and I love it, too. You would have liked what I had on underneath the balls. And here I thought we weren't making progress. I had on a little bikini bottom and two round pieces of cardboard discreetly covering my nipples.

Tiger Woods channeled his inner Eminem for this Annie Leibovitz photo, which was taken in 2006 but didn't appear in Vanity Fair until 2010.

Natalie Gulbis is a star on and off the course. She's gotten attention for winning the Evian Masters in 2007, and also for her relationship with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (they broke up years ago), her appearance on "The Celebrity Apprentice," and this photo shoot for FHM Magazine in April 2006.
