How to Hit Every Iron Flush
2 of 2
STEP 2: Drop your hands straight down
It's as simple as it sounds. Picture your left arm sliding down across your chest with your hands and the clubhead hanging on for the ride. As you do this, fight the urge to unhinge your wrists or move your hands out in front of your body. This easy move gives you power-producing clubhead lag. Moreover, you set your club on the correct plane with the shaft bisecting your right shoulder.
NOTE: The secret to making a good downswing is performing steps 1 and 2 at the same time.
If you can't do it at first, make an extra effort to stay relaxed. This is not the fast part of your swing. Rather, it sets you up for speed. Once you complete the two moves, you can turn your hips as hard and fast as you want.
