The foundation of Ogilvy's seemingly effortless power is his ability to keep his left foot and leg planted throughout the swing. To practice, hit fairway bunker shots while your feet are dug into the sand. At the finish, your lead foot should be in the exact position it was at the start of the swing. If that foot moved, you'll have used a lot of effort to create a little power and not much accuracy.
