5 Things You Didn't Know: Sony Open

Daly made the cut, sort of
John Daly did not play on Saturday or Sunday at the Sony Open even though he scored well enough to make the cut. A new policy on the PGA Tour states that the low 70 players and ties after two rounds qualify to play on the weekend, unless that number exceeds 78 players, as it did at the Waialae Country Club. In that situation, only the closest number to 70 players stay in the tournament. Because 69 players shot 139 or better, Daly and 17 other players who shot 140 did not advance to the weekend's competition.
