Elk's tough start proves costly
Carding six birdies and no bogeys is a great way to play the final 18 holes of a tournament. But a first-hole double-bogey really cost Steve Elkington. The Australian finished at 13 under for the Buick Open, two shots behind Brian Bateman's 15 under. It was the only double-bogey of the week for the winner of the 1995 PGA Championship.
