5 Things You Didn't Know ... 2007 Verizon Heritage
1. Kelly's Numbers Lie
Jerry Kelly was in contention at the Masters two weeks ago, finishing T5. This week, his solid play earned him a spot in the final pairing on Sunday (and Monday), but a final round 77 knocked him down to T8. So the Wisconsin native's game must be improving, right? Well, compared to 2006, Kelly is shorter off the tee this season (276.5 vs. 278.1), hits fewer fairways (67.91% vs. 70.26%) and makes virtually the same number of putts per green in regulation (1.785 vs. 1.781). However, his scoring average is down from 70.85 (70th) to 70.17 (28th), and over four rounds that half-shot means two strokes.
