It's for: Low- to mid-handicappers
David Glod, President
and founder:
"The quest here is to develop
an iron that captures
the classic look and
feel of a forged blade with the
forgiveness of a cavity-back
cast club. We give it a classic
face shape, a thinner topline
and move all that weight down
to the beefed-up sole. Another
challenge is to get forged feel
from regular steel. That's where
the polymer dampening system
comes into play. In the end, we
get the densities of the polymer
just right so that each iron feels
like you're hitting a forged blade."
How it works: Sure, Glod et al
thinned the topline and bulked
up the sole to build in a bit of
forgiveness. The heel and toe
areas along the sole are also
shaved down to reduce digging,
limit turf drag and promote
workability. More intriguing,
though, is the dual-density
dampening system. The long
irons have a firmer insert while the
mid and short irons have a softer
insert for added feel and control. It
comes with a Dynamic Gold High
Launch steel, Project X Flighted
steel or X-Quad graphite shaft.
