One of the secrets to hitting solid irons and woods is hitting through the ball, not to it. The ball is not your end point. In fact, the fastest part of your swing should occur after impact. I'm 5' 8" and weigh only 145 pounds, but I can hang with almost anyone because I've learned how to effectively accelerate.
