Rory McIlroy is off to a great start in 2014.
McIlroy and tennis star Caroline Wozniacki announced their engagement on Twitter after McIlroy proposed as the couple celebrated New Year's in Sydney, Australia.

The two-time major winner and Wozniacki, a former world No 1 tennis player, took to Twitter to post photos both of their backdrop of fireworks over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and Wozniacki's large diamond engagement ring. A source close to McIlroy confirmed the engagement.
Wozniacki is currently preparing for the Australian Open but on Sunday withdrew from the Brisbane International because of an injured shoulder. McIlroy, who won the Australian Open on 1 December by a single shot from Adam Scott, will return to competitive golf in Abu Dhabi in mid-January. McIlroy's Sydney success was his sole one in 2013.
In mid-October, it was reported in the Irish media that McIlroy had informed Wozniacki that their relationship was over. A month later, however, Wozniacki was present for all four competitive days as the former world No1 played in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
McIlroy, 24, and Wozniacki, 23, began dating in 2011, and often attend each other's tournaments.
