SANTA ANA PUEBLO, N.M. (AP) — Mark Sheftic shot a 70 on Tuesday to keep the lead after the three rounds of the PGA Professional National Championship.

Sheftic, 34, of Ambler, Pa., was 8-under 205 heading into Thursday's final round. He leads Stephen Schneiter of Sandy, Utah; Keith Dicciani of White Plains, N.Y.; and Todd Lancaster of Aurora, Ohio, by two strokes. Schneiter and Dicciani each shot 67 Tuesday and Lancaster had a 68.

Sheftic, who is playing in his first championship for club pros, is the teaching professional at the noted Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa. He was among more than 300 entrants to begin play Sunday, vying for a $550,000 total purse. The top-20 finishers receive a berth in the 2009 PGA Championship.
