A report in Tuesday's New York Post claiming that Tiger Woods had purchased a mansion in the Hamptons for $65 million was incorrect, according to the listing agent for the property.
Beate V. Moore of Sotheby's International, the listing and selling agent for the estate, said it had been sold, but not to Woods. She would not disclose the buyer's name or the price.
Moore said that she talked to the Post reporter, who said he had an excellent source for his story, after the story was published. "It obviously was not an excellent source," Moore said. "I'm amazed how it was so totally unfounded and spread like wildfire."
Moore added that she had not heard anything about Woods shopping for real estate on Long Island, and Woods's representatives also told Radar magazine that the story was false.
