IRVING, Texas (AP) — The Byron Nelson Championship will be played on one course for the first time since 1993.
PGA Tour and Four Seasons Resort officials said Friday the TPC course will be ready for the April 23-27 tournament after an $8 million redesign that began after last year's event.
"So many parties have pulled together under challenging weather conditions to get the course ready and make this announcement possible," said Henry Hughes, the PGA Tour's chief of operations.
Record summer rainfall delayed the TPC redesign project by more than two months.
The Nelson tournament has utilized two courses for the first two rounds in past years. Players had one round on the Cottonwood Valley course across the street before all weekend rounds were played at the TPC course.
Using input from dozens of PGA Tour players, every hole on the 185-acre course was revamped from tee to green.
"In redesigning the course, our goal was to honor the legacy of Byron Nelson," said D.A. Weibring, the Champions Tour player whose group oversaw the project. "To that end, we created a cleaner, more defined course that incorporates traditional tee, bunker and green elements throughout."
