MONTREAL (AP) — A capsule look at the matches Saturday in the Presidents Cup:

FOURBALLS

United States 2 1/2, International 2 1/2

Stewart Cink and Jim Furyk (USA) def. Angel Cabrera and K.J. Choi (INT), 1 up.

Cabrera and Choi both sat out in the morning, and they won the first two holes of the back nine to build a 2-up lead. It looked as though they would go 3 up on the par-3 13th when Cabrera hit his approach to 10 feet, and Furyk was on the other side of the ridge. Furyk holed the putt, Cabrera missed, and the comeback began. Cink squared the match with a 15-foot birdie on the 16th, then gave the U.S. a lead with a 7-foot birdie on the 17th, and the Americans won when Cabrera missed a 15-foot birdie on the final hole.

Phil Mickelson and Woody Austin (USA) halved with Retief Goosen and Adam Scott (INT).

The International team did not take the lead until the 15th hole when Mickelson tried unsuccessfully to hit out of the water (but stayed dried) and Austin missed a 5-foot par putt. The match was dormie on the 16th when Goosen holed out from a deep bunker for birdie. Austin responded with a 10-foot birdie on the 17th hole, and Mickelson made a 20-foot birdie putt on the final hole for a halve.

Mike Weir and Ernie Els (INT) def. Charles Howell III and Lucas Glover (USA), 4 and 2.

Els provided the early lead with a 10-foot birdie on the opening hole, Glover squared the match by holing out from the fairway on No. 2 from 76 yards, and the match remained close until Weir ran off three straight birdies to close out the front nine with a 3-up lead for the International side. Glover birdied the next two holes, and it looked like another International collapse until the Americans failed to birdie the par-5 12th, and Weir made a 25-foot birdie on the 15th. Els finished it off with an approach to 5 feet on the 16th.

Vijay Singh and Stuart Appleby (INT) def. Steve Stricker and Hunter Mahan (USA), 1 up.

Singh and Appleby weren't as dominant as their previous fourball match when they were 11 under through 14 holes, but they built a 3-up lead at the turn when the Americans could not match their birdies. But it was closer than many expected when Appleby and Singh butchered the 12th, and Stricker nearly pulled off an unlikely halve. With the match dormie, Stricker holed a 10-foot birdie putt on the 17th, then stood over an 18-foot birdie putt to halve the match. It just missed to the right, and Singh got up-and-down for par from a bunker and the victory.

Tiger Woods and David Toms (USA) def. Geoff Ogilvy and Nick O'Hern (INT), 5 and 3.

Toms became the 14th partner Woods has had in all cup competitions, and they proved to be a good fit. Woods didn't make a birdie until the eighth hole when he chipped in from behind the green, giving them a 3-up lead. Toms' 7-foot birdie on the ninth made it 4 up, and then it was a matter of when the match would end. Ogilvy won the 11th with a birdie, but the teams matched birdies the next two holes, and Woods closed out the match with 25-foot birdie on the 15th.
