MONTREAL (AP) A capsule look at the foursome matches Saturday in the Presidents Cup:
United States 5, International 0
Steve Stricker and Hunter Mahan (USA) def. Trevor Immelman and Rory Sabbatini (INT), 2 up.
Sabbatini's birdie on the second hole marked the first time Stricker had trailed during the Presidents Cup, and the Immelman's birdie on the next hole gave them a 2 up lead. The Americans didn't lose another hole until the 17th. They squared the match with a par on the 11th, Stricker nearly chipped in for eagle on the 12th, and took control with a birdie on the 14th. With the match dormie, the International team stayed alive with a birdie that was conceded on the 17th. Both teams were in the rough and just short of the green on the 18th, but Sabbatini chunked his chip to 7 feet, and Immelman missed the cut. They conceded the U.S. par from 2 1/2 feet.
---
Phil Mickelson and Woody Austin (USA) def. Retief Goosen and Stuart Appleby (INT), 5 and 4.
Mickelson won his first outright match in any cup competition since the 2005 Presidents Cup, and he didn't have to do much. The International team was a wreck, failing to make a single birdie and finishing the match at 6 over through 14 holes. The Americans were 2 up at the turn despite being 2 over par, then Mickelson chipped in for birdie on the 10th and the rout was on. Austin stayed dry on the 14th hole and hit wedge to 4 feet to wrap up the match.
---
Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk (USA) def. Adam Scott and Ernie Els (INT), 4 and 3.
Els missed a 6-foot par putt on the opening hole, Woods holed a 25-foot birdie putt on the third hole to go 2 up, and the Americans never trailed. The International side won only one hole, at No. 4 when Woods and Furyk made bogey. Furyk made a 12-foot birdie two holes later to restore the 2-up lead, and the next six holes were halved until the Americans took over. They made birdie on the par-5 12th, then went dormie on the 14th when Els drove into the water and Woods hit wedge to 3 feet for birdie.
---
Lucas Glover and Scott Verplank (USA) def. Vijay Singh and Mike Weir (INT), 2 and 1.
Verplank remained undefeated, while Weir and Singh suffered their first loss in a match that turned on the ninth hole. With the crowd again behind Weir, the International team never trailed on the front nine, but it lost all the momentum at No. 9. Glover stuffed his approach into 2 feet, and Weir followed with a shot that spun back to 4 feet. But Singh missed the putt for the match to go all square, and Verplank hit his approach to 8 feet for birdie on the 10th and the first American lead. They won the 12th with a birdie when Glover's bunker shot stopped 4 feet away, and the Americans hung on to close out the match on the 17th.
---
David Toms and Zach Johnson (USA) def. Nick O'Hern and Geoff Ogilvy (INT), 2 and 1.
The Australians birdied the second hole for an early lead, but Toms and Johnson won three straight holes concluding with a birdie at No. 7 to seize a 2-up lead. The Americans were 3 up and appeared to be in control until the International side rallied with a par on the 11th and a birdie on the 12th, then squared the match with a hole that drew the loudest cheer of the morning. Ogilvy hit driver to the edge of the 14th green, and O'Hern knocked in a 40-footer for eagle. Toms chipped in for birdie from 15 feet on the next hole to regain the lead, and the match ended when O'Hern missed a 6-foot par putt on the 17th.
