KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — Former British Open champion Greg Norman has withdrawn from next week's Senior PGA championship for personal reasons.

Tournament officials said Wednesday that the former world No. 1 had been scheduled to be in a field that includes defending champion Jay Haas, Tom Watson, Hale Irwin and Seve Ballesteros.

The tournament will take place from May 24-27 at The Ocean Course, site of the 1991 Ryder Cup.
