SHANGHAI, China(AP) Austria's Markus Brier won the China Open on Sunday, closing with a 4-under 67 for a five-stroke victory.

Brier birdied the 18th, his fifth birdie of the day at the Shanghai Silport Golf Club course, to finish at 10-under 274.

Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell (69), South Africa's Andrew McLardy (70) and Australia's Scott Hend (71) tied for second.

``I'm going in the right direction,'' said Brier, also the winner of last year's BA-CA Golf Open in Vienna. ``I just got that same feeling.''

He earned $333,390 in the event sanctioned by the European and Asian tours.

Sweden's Steven Jeppsen shot a course-record 63 to tie for eighth at 1 over.
