The Old Way
Make a full swing in the bunker, with a focus on turning your hips on the way to the top of your swing.

The New Way
Keep your lower body quiet on the backswing and focus on turning your torso through impact.

Why It's Better
Players using the old fundamental had a tendency to turn their hips too far on the backswing and then make a tentative arm swing at the ball. The new way helps you rotate to the left through impact so you don't get the clubhead stuck in the sand and leave the ball in the bunker.

How to Do It

1. Take your normal bunker setup position with your feet and clubhead open. Your spine should lean about two inches to the left. This lean allows for a steeper angle of attack.

2. Drive your hands, arms and club to the top with your shoulders. This creates torque between your upper and lower body that encourages you to keep your weight forward on your downswing and into a full finish.

3. Release your right hip and right shoulder, making a full pivot motion as you transition into the finish.
