THE BRAIN GAME
Your subconscious plays a big role in putting. Think about it. When faced with a flat putt, you know how hard to hit the ball without giving it much thought. That's your subconscious saying, "My stroke should come this far back and this far through."
THE BRAIN DRAIN
On slick, downhill putts, your subconscious can work against you. Say you have a 10-footer. Your subconscious sees that distance and wants you to put a "10-foot stroke" on the putt. That's a problem, because you know the putt actually requires a shorter backstroke. When your brain receives mixed signals, the result can be a big backstroke followed by a decelerated downstrokea deadly combination.
THE SOLUTION
Picture another hole in your mind. If the putt is super fast, picture a hole 8 feet closer than actual hole and putt to that. If it's not that fast, picture a hole 5 feet closer. This fake target fools your subconscious and will help you drain more putts.
