Sergio's Power Coil
For an average-size guy,
Garcia can pound it out there
with anyone on Tour and
is one of the longest iron
hitters in history. His trick?
His shoulders [red line] rotate
almost 140 degrees (most
of us are lucky to get 90
degrees), and are turned 100
degrees more than his hips
[green line]. That's serious
coil. Sergio is incredibly
flexibile, but he isn't Gumby.
He cheats by kicking
in his left knee, an easy
move that frees your upper
body so it can turn more
