How to Attack with Your Short Irons
Stop missing short and right and knock down the flagstick

This story is for you if...
• You often leave short-iron shots short of your target
• Not only do you miss short, you miss right, too

THE SITUATION
You have 130 yards to the pin. It's an easy 9-iron and you swing away thinking birdie, but you leave the ball short and right in a bunker.

WHY IT HAPPENED
Your short-iron swing is too flat — it's more like your driver swing. Your short-iron swing should be steep.

HOW TO NEVER DO IT AGAIN

ADDRESS

Do... Play the ball in the center of your stance and move your hands forward, just left of your pants' zipper. Shift most of your weight onto your left leg and keep your shoulders level. Imagine the buttons on your shirt run down the inside of your left pant leg.
Don't... Dip your left shoulder to move your weight onto your left leg — that will cause a reverse-pivot.
