5 Things You Didn't Know ... Buick Open
GOLF.com goes deep inside the numbers to reveal how Brian Bateman beat the odds to win the 2007 Buick Open, Steve Elkington blew his chance and more.
Bateman made the one he needed
Tied for the lead with one hole to play at 2007 Buick Open, Brian Bateman, who earned his 2007 PGA Tour card by finishing T29 at the 2006 Q-School, faced a 12-foot birdie putt. He calmly rolled that one in, but Bateman had previously made just two of eight putts between 10 and 15 feet for the week. Heading into the Buick, Bateman, a native of Monroe, La., had made just 16 of 55 (29%) from that range this season.
