Same old 17th, sort of
The notorious island green is now 1.5 inches flatter and has a new wooden bulkhead, new subgrade, new greens mix, new subsurface mechanical drain system with water vacuum and air injection and the new MiniVerde bermuda grass on top. But before demolition, workers used lasers to measure every knob and nuance so they could appease the preservationists by restoring every blade of grass to its original position after the rehab.
Well, mission accomplished. The yelps will continue to emanate from the resort's golfers, who merrily dunk 120,000 balls a year into the dastardly drink.
