Truth & Rumors: New wife helps O'Meara's game
About a year ago, as he was waiting to fly to Europe for the British Open, Mark O'Meara began a phone relationship with a new woman, Meredith Berkman. Brought together by a mutual friend, they finally went on a date three weeks later, and in April he proposed to Berkman in the Augusta National Champions Room, home of the Masters.
They were married June 27.
"There's no messing around at 52," he said. "It's a new second half of my life."
His golf game has turned 180 degrees.
O'Meara has three runner-up finishes this season in nine starts. His new bride will join him this weekend for the 3M Championship in Blaine as he shoots for victory No. 1.
