Resort,
18 holes,
$$$$$
Five minutes away from the Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall, the White Witch is named for Annie Palmer, a plantation mistress who reportedly murdered three of her husbands and many slave lovers in the 1880s before killing herself in 1881. Many locals say her ghost haunts the grounds today.
Blasted out of granite hills, the course flows over mountains and through forests alongside the Caribbean Sea; sixteen of the 18 holes give panoramic views of the water.
Large, visually-intimidating mounds flank many fairways, but they tend to help stray drives careen back toward the fairway. The landing areas on most holes are generous, but the greens are kept fast and have lots of undulation to keep things challenging.
