Resort,
36 holes,
$$$$$
This facility has two eighteen hole regulation courses that make the drive to Half Moon Bay worthwhile. The original Links Course has been built on rolling terrain with large trees and brush lining the fairways on all the holes except for the two ocean holes, #17 and #18. The greens are medium-sized and slightly undulating. There are many very large and deep sand bunkers. Many of the tees and greens are elevated. The fairways are quite wide with several dogleg designs. The major difficulty in playing the course is the putting, and the wind, which blows most of the time, can require you to use more club than normal and to aim at sand bunkers allowing the wind to blow the ball back to the green. The signature hole is #18, a 428-yard, par 4, which parallels the ocean and is truly spectacular to view and, with the wind, interesting to play. The Ocean Course is a true links design, completely open, playing along the ocean. In accordance with the links design, the hazards are in the form of tall green on the side of the fairways and grass and sand bunkers. While the fairways are quite wide, many of them are sloped and rolling with mounds on the sides, requiring the placement of your shots in order to prevent your ball from rolling into the rough. There is a view of the ocean from most of the holes. Most of the greens and tees are elevated. The greens are medium in size and undulating, again resulting in the putting being a major obstacle to a good score. Also, the wind is more of a factor on this course than the Links Course for there are no trees to block it and several holes play directly into the wind. You will find the front nine easier than the back nine due to the hole designs and the wind. Groups of five are only allowed out after 3 PM. The clubhouse was renovated in 1997. There are no homes around the Ocean Course. You are not allowed to walk the Links Course.
